If you roll over the small images in the sidebar, a large version will appear above. As an alternative, this large image above could be turned into a picture slideshow that changes every few seconds. The small images in the sidebar could be kept or replaced with links or information, such as upcoming events.

 

The large pictures are only blurry because I took them from your origianl website and they were rather small. Also, either picture-switching method will be a plug-in so that the pictures can be easily modified or switched out by the admin.
